Down with Irony, Down with Romanticism. An alternative engagement with big themes.
Seven Seven Contemporary Art Group London.

Dawn Shorten and Jane Ward reflect on global mapping and weather effects. Alan Bond creates the possibility of relocating chalk hill figures from wide grassy downland to a roadside environment and Jan Stradtmann shows us that when office-bound bankers find themselves in crisis they seek solace in the greenery of city parks.

The boundaries of parkland are described in Rachel Labovitch's delicate drawings. Chris Dobrowolski opted for an extreme opportunity to become artist in residence with the British Antarctic Survey.

Anka Dabrowska's autobiographical drawings reference street furniture, kiosks and grafitti from her Polish upbringing. Julie Cockburn makes interventions with found printed ephemera creating a seductive and unnerving mixture of nostalgia and pathos.
Michael Vogt and Jan Obergfell conjecture on what comes next, recording degenerating architecture and arboreal or floating cityscapes.
