GERTRUD STAVLING & MARTIN SUNDVALL
Curators: Richard G Carlsson, Göran T Karlsson & Martin Ålund
The works of two generationally separate artists meet in an associative and open dialogue. The starting point of has been the visual charge that is brought to bear through the juxtaposition of these artists’ singular expressions. The works of both Gertrud Stavling (1918-2008) and Martin Sundvall (b. 1975) possess clear poetic undertones while also reflecting an interest in technology and bearing a precision with regards to execution. Both artists also include clear references in their works to their respective personal experiences of civilization’s technical development phases. This dialogue between the artistic expressions of different generations reflects the character of Konstnärshuset and Svenska Konstnärernas Förening (The Swedish Artists' Association) as a meeting place and a forum for artistic exchange.
